Captured on the street or nearby.
Nothing makes me more uncomfortable than shooting people on the street. I don't like pointing cameras at people without their permission, and I don't like asking for permission, because it defeats the whole purpose of candid shots.
Yet, it is this discomfort that makes for great street photography: Acting quickly, observing people, and pressing the shutter at the right time. It's not a game for perfectionists, and it represents the opposite of what I would do as an advertising creative.
Still, every once in a while, something or someone that just begs to be photographed appears. And no matter how hard it is for me, I'm still there with my camera. I feel that's what matters the most.
